Across the 120-room project scope at Aliée Istanbul, a KNX-based guest room automation system was implemented using PMS check-in and check-out data together with door and presence sensor information for reliable occupancy detection. A 4-inch touchscreen in every room provides intuitive control of lighting, climate, shading and room scenes.
Scope / Detailed Content:
At Aliée Istanbul – A Paris Society Collection Hotel, guest comfort, energy efficiency and central operations across the 120-room project scope were integrated through sensor-assisted KNX room automation.
When the system receives check-in information through the PMS integration, it prepares the assigned room for the arriving guest. As the guest enters, information from the door contact or electronic door lock is evaluated together with the in-room presence sensors, automatically activating the welcome scene.
After the door closes or the guest leaves, the system does not rely solely on door movement. Data from the room sensors is evaluated to verify actual occupancy. Once vacancy is confirmed, lighting, climate control and managed electrical loads are switched to energy-saving mode. When presence is detected again, the room automatically returns to its comfort settings.
A 4-inch touchscreen installed in every room provides guests with a simple and intuitive control interface. Lighting, temperature, shading and personalised room scenes can all be managed from a single screen.
Implemented Systems:
• PMS check-in and check-out integration
• Sensor-based actual room occupancy detection
• Door contact and electronic door lock integration
• Lighting and scene control
• Climate control
• Shading control
• 4-inch touchscreen in every room
• Energy-saving and vacant-room scenarios
• Central room monitoring and management
• Remote access and technical alarm monitoring
Project Approach:
PMS data, door status and in-room sensors are evaluated together to provide genuine occupancy detection without relying on a key-card holder. This approach protects guest comfort, reduces unnecessary energy consumption in vacant rooms and gives technical teams central visibility across all guestrooms.
